Can I design the use of space and structure of my log house by myself?

Of course you can. Often that is a good starting point for experienced designers. We will complete the structural drawings and then we will look over technical details together with the Buyer. This way we can rather quickly reach a final solution, in which the client’s wishes are realised exactly in the desired form. Log timber is a rewarding construction material, since it is easy to use in technical solutions in countless different ways.

I am buying my first log cabin. How will I know how to erect the building?'

The erection of a log cabin, or even a larger house, is fairly simple, since the building is delivered with detailed instructions, but we always recommend the use of a professional builder in the erection.
When necessary, our co-operation partners will take care of the entire erection, and even the finishing, in just the way you wish — even as a turnkey construction contract.

Where can I find ideas for timber construction?

We have an extensive model catalogue and the solutions presented in it can be adapted in numerous ways. On the other hand, any and all ideas and functional solutions you can find in a magazine of the construction industry, or in nature, can be implemented technically. Tell us what your wishes are and we will design it for you.

How can I plan the construction site, the storage of building materials and the use of space, in order to make the flow of work sensible?

On this matter we have extensive experience and clear pieces of advice. Just follow them and you’ll find that everything runs smoothly. The most important thing is to protect the building material from moisture and against getting soiled.

What is included in the construction package?

The contents of the delivery may vary, but our most common mode of delivery is a complete delivery of timber parts including windows and doors with ready-made fittings.

What should I do about surface treatment?

A log cabin should be surface-treated immediately after the erection in order to keep it beautiful and in good shape from generation to generation.
The surface treatment may be colourless, in which case it is always beautiful and fits nicely into nature as it is. Some people think that treated with a suitable transparent paint that brings out the natural grain in the wood the cabin looks even better. The surface can also be treated with a covering paint. Today’s materials are good, whatever is to your liking. Ask for more details in the paint shop closest to you.

We wish to build a summer cottage so that it is habitable throughout the year, and later we may move in permanently. How should these matters be considered in the design phase?

The most important thing here is to think about the use of space and adequate thermal insulation.

How is the settling of log structures taken into consideration?

This is not a problem at all. The natural settling of logs is taken into consideration in the structures by making allowances. Thus the logs can settle without hindrances and this will cause no harm to the structures.
